Greetings neighbors-

I attended the second BCPS boundary study committee meeting, regarding capacity relief for Central Area Baltimore County elementary schools, last Thursday. The first thing I noticed at this meeting is that there were many more Observers like me, and those Observers had strong opinions and were thirsty for information. I spent most of the evening pouring over the new options with one of our Overbook neighbors.

There are now a total of 5 boundary options drawn that move students from over-capacity elementary schools to classrooms where seats are available. During the meeting, the committee members proposed additional ideas for adjusting those options, moving specific Planning Blocks from one boundary to another. I expect that by the third meeting next month, there will be several new maps drawn, but also some of these options will be removed from consideration.

The first Public Information Session, where community members may share their concerns with the committee, is scheduled for Wednesday, November 15th. The committee is expected to have selected viable scenarios to share at that time. That date also begins an Online Survey, the details of which have not yet been discussed.

I have summarized the first two committee meetings into the attached briefs. Please review them, starting with the Idlewylde Debrief, and mark your calendars for the Public Information Session, November 15 at 7pm, at Cockeysville Middle School, 10401 Greenside Drive, 21030. I encourage you to reach out to me directly with any questions or concerns.
